Our Advanced Photography Workshop is the perfect follow on from the Intermediate Workshop. It has been designed for students who have a good knowledge of taking photographs in the manual settings but are now interested in "making" rather than "taking" a photograph. Our experienced and talented tutors will unlock your potential, giving you the tools to create original and exciting photographs.
The day incorporates theory with practical examples, impromptu tasks and demonstrations as we go to a number of locations around the Viaduct and City areas of Auckland.

There is a great emphasis on the elements of composition, balancing light and dark, finding colour as well as what lenses to use to get the shots you are looking for. Working with our tutor you will discover how to make the ordinary quite extraordinary. We want you to leave with images from your Advanced photography experience that will amaze you. To discover how the slightest adjustments can make a picture worthy of wall space will make you smile especially when you realise it's so easy.
During this time you will be encouraged to make decisions on the composition, develop an understanding of white balance and appropriate use of filters too. With the knowledge of more advanced settings on your camera you will learn how to use those settings to help you pull out the colours on a dull day, how to understand tonal ranges so that you take take good black and white photographs leave knowing how to achieve dramatic imagery.

Our workshops also have the luxury of several Canon cameras and lenses for you to borrow Free of Charge, so if you are looking to "Try before you Buy"  upgrading your equipment or just wish to see what another lens could do for your photography this is the perfect opportunity. Plus we also have some great camera equipment discounts to pass onto our students.

The group size is a maximum of 6 students with 1 tutor

During this time we cover
  1. Advanced Composition-elements of design, principles of design, trisectional compositions
  2. Using flash in an environmental portrait : Interior and Exterior
  3. Camera settings and picture styles
  4. What lenses to use and why - Telephoto, mid range, wide angle
  5. Show exposure readings from the "zone system" and how your camera can get it wrong - Black on black and white on white
  6. Camera information- Sensor sizes, general care and maintenance of equipment etc
  7. Advanced Focusing Techniques
  8. Exposure - Exposure bracketing
  9. Quality of light - Directional, flat and backlighting
  10. Why is the RAW file ( vs the jpeg) so important
  11. Post production ( brief outline) - Important and essential controls, adjustments in Lightroom and Photoshop, final output
Advice is readily available for those of you perhaps looking to take up photography professionally. We are happy to answer any questions and help on specifics where we can.

What is Clickapix
Clickapix is a basic guide for photographers who have a DSLR camera or Compact Digital with manual settings. It has been designed for easy access to technical information when you are out and about.
It will recommend the ISO, the Aperture and the shutter speeds that would be suitable for the subject you are taking.

Who is it for
Created for anyone who would like a reminder about optimum camera settings at the click of a button
One of the most common questions we are asked by our students is
"What setting do I put my camera on to take a picture like that?"

How does it work
Choose the type of picture you are want to take.
Scroll through the different styles of photograph:
Portraiture, Scenery, Sports, Nature, Night and Flash
Choose the examples that match your requirements. Clickapix then gives you a range of settings based on the lens, the lighting conditions and what it is you are wanting to photograph

Quick and Easy
Remember it is only a guide, there are very many variables but it will get you on the right track. Photography is about capturing moments in time creatively, making images that make people smile. However technical expertise is needed too and this might just solve your problems

So how do I purchase
If you have an iPhone or iPad just go to the iPhone App Store BUY NOW

We hope this simple guide helps you capture amazing images
